I recently received a fellowship at the National Humanities Center, in Durham, North Carolina, for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. I am very grateful to NHC for granting me this fellowship and to Arizona State University for its support. I thank David Garrow, W. Jason Miller, and Robert Terrill for their encouragement and assistance and to Hilda Hoogenboom, Markus Cruse, and Joni Adamson for coaxing me to apply. Although I will dearly miss my compadres in Arizona, I will be closer to my wonderful son, Andrew Jin Miller, who lives in Virginia.
